James Grant-Peterkin
James Grant-Peterkin is a graduate of Cambridge University and the former British Honorary Consul on Easter Island. He has combined his studies in Linguistics with almost 20 years spent living on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) to become one of the leading experts in the cultures and history of Eastern Polynesia.
Originally from Scotland, James is now based in London where he works as an author and lecturer. He has written published pieces for the BBC and the Royal Institute of International Affairs, as well as several books about the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. He has also acted as the intermediary between the Easter Island authorities and the British Museum regarding the Rapa Nui artefacts currently held in their collection.
James lectures regularly at academic institutions and on board cruise ships, specializing in the human history of our oceans and the lessons from the past that can help orientate our future.
